Jacoby Ellsbury was named the Eastern League's Player of the Week for the week ending Aug. 13.

The 22-year-old Madras product hit .400 for the Portland Sea Dogs during the week (10 for 25) in the 12-team league.
Those hits included a double, two triples, a home run, seven runs scored, three RBI, one stolen base, three walks and a .720 slugging percentage in six games.

His first homer for Portland came in the eighth inning of a 13-4 home win against Harrisburg on Thursday.
Heading into this week's action, Ellsbury was hitting a team-leading .333 in 31 games at the Double A level. He has a .311 average for August through Sunday's game.

Ellsbury started the season in Single A -- where he hit .299 for the Wilmington Blue Rocks of the Carolina League -- before being promoted to the Red Sox's Double A Sea Dogs.

The Red Sox made Ellsbury, a 2002 Madras High graduate and standout outfielder for Oregon State, their No. 1 overall draft choice in 2005.
